Key Info
12th, 13th, 14th September - London
A weekend of discussion with some serious action on the streets leading to a banging finale on the Monday. Join and stay as long as you are able.
The focus of Love & Rage is 'Security' which includes the impacts of water, food, energy and heat on our safety.
Earlier this year, and only after a freedom of information request, The National Security Assessment (NSA) was published by the government. It highlights serious threats to UK Security from biodiversity loss, flooding, drought, food shortages, extreme heat and mass displacement of people.
These are a danger to us all and the full NSA has been hidden, redacted!. What has been published already points to extremely serious security threats to the UK, so what extra information are they hiding?
Our demands are to Government:
-
Tell the Truth by issuing and publicising the full, unredacted NSA
-
Hold a UK wide briefing on the Climate and Nature Risks
-
Act Now to mitigate against the serious threats to UK security
To build the world we want and need, to build a path for the survival of all life and for all generations to come, it’s clear society must have a common understanding of the facts. And we are going to insist upon it.
We are all in the same soup and it's coming to the boil!

Why Love & Rage?
It's really important to focus on the 'and', the ability to hold both together. Love AND Rage.
Together year on year, we have all been witnessing the most immense betrayal of life imaginable, the roaring of wildfires across Europe say it all. We know what’s happening, and we know, that at massive cost, the climate and nature emergency is being wilfully underplayed and ignored by those in power.
It’s vital that we don’t let anger feed into aggression, violence or more divisiveness – it so doesn’t help. The world is already absolutely stacked with that, so as Extinction Rebellion - we resolutely hold a commitment to stay rooted in love, nonviolence. To do things in a different way, holding by our Principles and Values.
Love is what brings us together. Rage is what moves us.
Love
Together we will shout from the rooftops with Love for the Earth, for Life itself.
Rage
We Rage against those who still deny the science and delay the change that’s so desperately needed. The Government, the security services, the media all know that climate breakdown is happening - yet where is their plan? A plan to secure a liveable future for the British people? The full National Security Assessment has been hidden - redacted. So, to build the world we want and need, to build a path for our children’s survival, it’s clear society must have a common understanding of the facts. And we are going to insist upon it.

Community Assembly on Saturday... and beyond the weekend!
A must-not-miss, in-person Community Assembly, Saturday 12th September 2-5pm where we will all discuss the question:
“How might we restore our failing water systems to secure a long-term future for all people, life and habitats?”
Water touches everything, including our very security... Everyone has a particular perspective from pollution to poverty... It's all connected. Our speakers to help inform discussions will be announced very soon. (We are very excited!)
Post-assembly
To maintain and build momentum after Love & Rage, this Autumn we’ll be using the power of 'Polis', an amazing participatory and inclusive tool that can help bring about system change.
Polis will allow for a wider, online discussion; it will be open for a month, between Monday 19th October - Thursday 19th November.
Please look out for our promotional campaign to share with your networks in the coming weeks to bring thousands into this conversation.

Love, Rage and ACTION : Mon 14 Sept
On Monday 14th we take to the streets. The Government know that climate breakdown is here, yet where is their plan? How do they intend to secure a liveable future for the British people?
Let us know you are coming on Monday
To help gauge numbers at the Monday action, please complete this simple form to let us know when you're planning to attend. weekend registration form.
There will be noise. There will be love and it will be for EVERYONE.
Because we’re all in the same soup and it’s coming to the boil.
Cacerolazo
Time: Midday (gather from 9:30)
Location: Central London, details coming soon
A loud, insistent banging of pots and pans, it’s a strong and fairly traditional expression, going back into early 19th century France and it's widely associated with protest in Latin America.
However, ours is a cacerolazo with a difference, we’re not just being a noisy rabble, but holding that key 'and', so we’ll be alternating short periods of big banging noise with quiet periods, silence, a song, a poem, nature sounds.
It’s going to be a pretty impactful, dramatic action. It’s essentially a very simple design and there’ll be plenty of pre-action briefing. We’re going to be processing the action to visit certain key locations in Central London.
What should you bring for the Monday day of action?
Bring your a pot or pan and something to bang them with, decorate your pot with XR symbols, stickers or anything your creatives minds can thing of. Bring your XR flags and pin on your patches and badges. And some earplugs!
What should you bring or wear on Monday?
Make a flame shaped placard, put flames around a hat or wear a heart on your sleeve. See the Get Creative page for ideas.
Earth Love
Time: 9:30-16:00
Location: Central London, details coming soon
The EARTH LOVE Action on Monday will intentionally accessible.
It will take place away from Parliament in a green park and we’ll have Poets Corner, art blockers, DPAC, Quakers and Buddhists and those who choose quieter forms of protest, gathering in a park.
We’ll express our LOVE FOR THE PLANET against the backdrop of the fires and the drought which are ravaging our beautiful Planet, our Home, our only Home.
You can bring their own unique interpretation, colourful outfits, signs and creations to show the beauty of the imperilled natural world. Some are holding small discussions, talking to the public, others like Quakers, Christian Climate Action and Buddhists may hold ceremonies and vigils.
A roving band of Red Rebels may perform at intervals.
People join with Earth Love when the Cacerolazo is has finished at around 3.00pm.
A Climate Choir will lead us all in song as we depart in peace.
The protest reminds us that there are many forms of protest and also of the need for prompt action in an emergency with no one left behind. We are all Crew. We treat Nature and Life with RESPECT.

XRUK Actions can't happen without the behind the scenes crews. They help to make events safe and enjoyable for all. Our Action Support roles are also designed to be non-arrestable as far as possible.
It's a great way to join a friendly team and feel you are making a direct, immediate impact.
Training is given for specific roles, usually online before the event, as well as refresher briefings at the start of each shift.
Whilst roles like Stewards and Roadtaking do require mobility we do have some static roles. Time commitment is flexible to suit your availability on the day.

List of Hostels
These are options across whole of London, not necessarily close to the venue.
-
Astor Hostel Victoria - There’s options for 4, 5, 6, 8, and 10 bed dorms, plus private rooms, so people could book in groups.
-
White Ferry House is a pub hostel that also looks like a good option, and there’s several hostels from the same brand in London:
-
YHA London Central is on the Victoria line, about a 10-15 minute walk from Oxford Circus tube station, which is a few stops away from Victoria station. Good option for people to book in groups.
-
Generator London is near King’s Cross, which is on the Victoria line. It looks pretty trendy, and has things like a bar and games nights: https://staygenerator.com/hostels/london
-
Clink261 is also near King’s Cross, and it has a pod room, where you get your own little enclosed bed, so could be good for people travelling alone who want some privacy:
-
Zedwell Capsule Hotel in Piccadilly is another Japanese-style capsule hotel where you’ve got your own little pod. It’s a little further away (you’ll need to change tube trains) and a little more expensive too, but looks comfortable and private:
Campervans
We do not advise camper bringing camper vans to London, however if you do contact commUnityHome for possible driveways to park in, or use JustPark.

The rage you are feeling comes from the same place inside your heart as the love.
This is why you refuse to accept a world where cruelty reigns and fire consumes all.
You have known hope and joy and kindness, like you have known water.
And justice is a river that demands you do not give up on it. ~ Nikita Gill
