Writing to Activists in Prison
This can be an effective element of an action to do at a local group meeting, at an outreach stall, or with children.
On outreach stalls
Sending postcards to activists who are in, or have just come out of prison, can be a really great element of a stall, and can generate extensive conversation. Often people don't realise that climate activists are even taken to court for their actions, never mind imprisoned for them.
It can also be a good conversation starter if there has been a high profile case recently that they have heard about, and would otherwise have no way of reachin out to that person.
Doing this activity with children
Children may want to write to activists they have been told about explaining how they inspired them or what they thought of their actions. You can write a template to help the child do this, encouraging them to include their name, age, reason for wanting to write, and maybe a picture they have drawn.
