Who are Rebel Ringers?

Rebel RingingRingers make calls to Extinction Rebellion supporters. We are the 'phonebanking' team, this is awhere simplevolunteers make phone callcalls to another rebel, using a script,supporters to invite them to connectengage in campaigns or events. We make phone calls to new joiners each week, using a script as a guide, to let them know about XR local groups/events and other ways to get involved with theour Rebellionmovement for change.

Phonebanking is crucial to mobilisation, and it's proven to work. in some way.

Rebel RingingRingers is all about our personal touch.touch. It's a lovelygreat way for rebels to keep in touch with the wider movement via real human interaction. It is impactful and empowering for you as a caller, for the person you call and for the movement as a whole when ringing campaigns happen at scale.

Rebel Ringer volunteers made thousands of calls in the lead up to The Big One in 2023 alone. This team helped reconnect rebels, some who had not been active for a while, for whatever reason, and steered willing activists to the information and resources they needed to get them to London's amazing 60,000+ people rebellion.

Rebel RingingThis is a flexiblekey way to help in remote XR work. Our 'phone bank'part of XRXR's offers the chance for you to have laughs and meaningful conversations with rebels (and potential rebels) everywhere. We guarantee that chatting with receptive people can be one of the most rewarding jobs you will do. (Even those who don't want any more contact are polite!)strategy.

What makes this work so rewarding is that we only contact people who are interested in finding out more about what's happening locally, regionally and nationally. Working with aXR, partythey ofhave ringers,signed orup independentlyrecently ifto youhear prefer,from us. No cold calling!

All you will getneed full support to inform and engage as many people as possible about XR's activities and support.

You will needis a mobile phone with (free callingminutes/texts minutes, a laptop or tablet,ideal), and a free hourcomputer or two.tablet. WorkWhile withmost otherspeople viaprefer Zoom,to orbe calla part of our group sessions, you can make calls flexibly in ways that suit your schedule.own time too. • Joinneed ourany Rebelspecial Ringers announcements Telegram channel for info on drop-in sessions and calling campaigns.
• For our drop-in and training sessions, we use Zoom. This way we can get questions answered quickly and share information,software or helptechnical debriefskills! each other if needed between calls.
• We use another Telegram channel for general support and chat which you'll get access to once you've signed up. Bring your enthusiasm and questions so we all learn.
• Our scripts and contact lists are hosted on CallHub which you need to run in your browser (eg Chrome, Edge or Safari) to log call details.
• We use our own personal phones to make calls and send texts,text somessages volunteerswith needyour normal mobile phone. For our group sessions and training we use Zoom, which you've probably already used before. Finally, we have an online platform which opens in your web brower (the app you're reading this page on!) to ensurelog theycall havedetails. freeWe're callshere to support you with all of this too.

It’s very important for us to protect the data of all our Rebels. To sign up as a Rebel Ringer, we askget you totrained filland inset a form where you agree to abide by our Data Protection Agreement, as well as our Volunteer Agreement.

Once you’ve signed the form, an email will be sent to a Coordinator of your Local Group, who will be asked to contact us to vouch for you.up. If you don’can't make a session, or have aany localquestions, group,feel pleasefree to send us an email aton rebelringers@rebellion.earth and we willcan arrange a meeting1-to-1 orcall to get you can come to a drop-in session. If you can get another Rebel to vouch for you, who holds an official role, or is widely known in your area, that works too!started.
