How did we get here?

A Community Assembly took place on Saturday 12th September at Love & Rage in London. The assembly discussed the question:

“How might we restore our failing water systems to secure a long-term future for all people, life and habitats?”

  • The assembly heard from three speakers; Doug Parr, Chief Scientist & Policy Director, Greenpeace UK, Dr Lynne Jones, XR Health and honorary associate professor at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and a visiting scientist at Harvard University and Steve Conlon from the XR Dirty Water Campaign.
  • The assembly then went into breakout groups to discuss the question and what they'd heard from the speakers. Then, together, they found outcomes they agreed on.
  • The three top outcomes from each breakout group were added to Polis as 'seed' statements. These statements act to spark the conversation with other participants using Polis.
  • Participants are asked to vote on the seed statements and to add their own ideas for others to vote on.
  • Polis filters the ideas so that the most popular or most devisive, show up more often and then finds common ground. The outcomes from Polis can be used by everyone to support campaigning and push for system change.
