What are these new 'Movement Assemblies' all about?

Based on the Community Assembly format the UK Assemblies team want to support our movement to continue walking the talk and flexing our democracy muscles. You are invited to be part of that process by helping to choose the topic of the first Movement Assembly.

Assemblies are a beautiful way to bring our collective wisdom to resolve our toughest issues.

To get the best from this process we're enhancing the Movement Assemblies with Polis (more info here). This is an online democratic voting platform, used all over the world by governments, academics, independent media and citizens. It is described as, "A real-time system for gathering, analysing and understanding what large groups of people think in their own words."

We know that when people come together in trust and love we make fairer, more inclusive and transparent decisions.

Have Your Say On:

'What should we discuss in the first XR UK movement assembly?'
  • Week 1 - Submit your ideas for topics via Polis (link coming soon!).
  • Week 2 - Vote on everyone's ideas.
  • Then results will be published on the Rebel Toolkit.
  • Based on the results, the UK Assemblies team will then create the question for the first Movement Assembly.
Week One - Participants
  • You will get a link to the poll and you can add your own questions for others to vote on.
  • At the end of the week, Polis will be closed to submissions.
  • You can read the Guide: Polis for Participants, so you understand the process and make the most out of taking part in the assembly.
Week One - Moderators
  • Repeated statements or questions will be edited out by Moderators to minimise overwhelm and frustration of participants. See Moderation info
  • Personally identifiable information such as email address, telephone numbers etc, will be deleted. If the number of participants is so small that demographic data can identify a participant, this will also be deleted.
Week Two - Participants
  • Voting only. Everyone can vote on the moderated and de-duplicated topics that were submitted in the first week.
Week Three - Assembly Organisers
  • Polis will bring the popular ideas to the top. The most popular will be our first 'Movement Assembly' chosen by you!
  • UK Assemblies will support, coordinate and publicise this assembly.
  • Results will be shared on the Rebel Toolkit and publicised on the Rebellion Broadcast
