What is the Rebel Toolkit?

A one stop shop for individual Rebels and members of Local and Community Groups. It will contain everything you need to know in order to set up and run a group, and take action with XR.

What is changing?

The Rebel Toolkit is currently being massively upgraded and updated! For a while it will still look the same, but soon there will be new, easier to navigate shelves and books, with updated and upgraded content.

What will you find on the toolkit:

  • Resources for people who are already involved in XR- 'internal facing resources'
  • ‘How to’ guides
  • Useful tools
  • Answers to common questions
  • Examples of things that have worked and why
  • Action Packs from UK circles
  • Special Wiki-style spaces for groups to add resources that can be shared
❌   No:
  • Public facing resources (this is what the website is for)
  • Non XR resouces (although you may find links to these)
  • Resources that are only useful to one individual group and can't be shared to others.
  • Anything not ok to display to the whole world! (especially personal identifiers)
  • Anything against our Principles and Values

Who maintains the Toolkit?

Circles who have specialist knowledge write their own pages of the toolkit.

Wiki pages can be contributed to by anyone, you just need to 'Log in' via the XR Hub.

The toolkit as a a whole is looked after by Local Group Support, who you can contact via their Mattermost Reception or by emailing LGsupport@extinctionrebellion.uk

5. Talks & Trainings
Inspire & prepare your group to take action & support each other.

6. Art
Find the images, how to guides, & inspiration behind XR's destinctive look.
- Get creative on the streets, on-line, on clothing & so much more.
- Take a deep dive into XR's creative processes and Design Programme (fonts, logos, colours, woodblock images, icons).
- Find posters, stencils, flyers, badges & so much more!

7. Publicity
The more people that know about your actions & events... the better!
- Media and Messaging (M&M) as we call it in XR.
- Use the media, speak directly to supporters, make best use of resources.
- What other groups are doing to promote their events & message their actions!

8. Politics & Beyond!
We must talk to traditional political structures as well as beyond them.
- At Local & Regional level, getting politicians & councilors involved will be effective.
- How are groups engaging politically from lobbying MPs to bringing participatory democracy to the people!

9. Wellbeing
This work is hard:
We must look out for each other & build the culture we wish for.
- Prepare yourself before an action, & develop the personal resilience necessary.
- Make plans to maintain your equilibrium throughout your action. Regenerative culture.
- Learn how rebels caring for each other within their groups builds a positive future!
